Messages and calls between Signal users are free over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Your mobile operator may charge for data.

No. Messages and calls between Signal users use end-to-end encryption by default.

A username lets others contact you; it differs from the profile name shown in chats. You can share a full username, QR code or link.

No. Messages disappear when the timer expires, but recipients can still keep a copy, for example by taking a photo. This feature helps manage chat history.

Open Linked Devices in Signal settings on your primary device to view and manage the list.

Choose a suitable backup or transfer method before changing devices. Secure backups, device transfers and local backups have different requirements. Consider whether the old device is available and which system you are moving to.

No. Screen Lock uses your phone passcode or biometrics to restrict access to the app. It is separate from Signal PIN. This screen-lock feature is not currently available on desktop.
